Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, and Perlane are not of animal or human origin, therefore a skin test is not needed and you can have the Restylane treatments performed immediately. When treating wrinkles or folds, Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, or Perlane is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very thin needle. The Restylane injections give natural volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. A Restylane treatment takes about 15 minutes and the results can be seen immediately.
Restylane, is biodegradable which means that they will gradually be absorbed. As the gel breaks down, water takes its place, and when totally absorbed, the Restylane gel disappears unnoticed from the body. How long a Restylane treatment holds its effect is very individual. This depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, lifestyle, and muscle activity, as well as on the Restylane injection technique.
Clinical trials of Restylane show that Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, and Perlane are effective for up to six months after lip augmentation and up to twelve months after facial contouring.

Restylane is a cosmetic filling agent made of Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of the skin. Restylane is made of a clear gel called NASHA™, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. This Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its own weight in water to help restore volume to the treated area. Restlyne is compatible with human Hyaluronic acid.
Restylane is made of Hyaluronic acid, which is the second largest component of the skin next to collagen. Restylane provides more volume than collagen, and does not require allergy testing. How Is Restylane Different Than Botox®? Restylane is used to fill in lines whereas Botox® is used to relax muscles that create wrinkles. Both Restylane and Botox® are often used in conjunction with each other to perfect deeper lines.
Restylane has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use and has been safely used throughout the world since 1996. Because Restylane is non-animal based, allergy testing is not required. The most commonly reported adverse events are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
Restylane has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles as well as enhance the appearance and fullness of lips.
The entire procedure typically takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Restylane treatments can be uncomfortable. The application of a numbing agent one hour prior to administration can help alleviate potential discomfort.
Before Restylane treatments, avoid aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, high doses of vitamin E supplements, or excessive alcohol consumption. Doing so will help decrease possible bruising at the site of injection. In addition, a numbing cream may be applied one hour prior to treatment.
Do not excessively manipulate the treated area for four to five days. Tylenol or Advil may be used as needed for any mild discomfort.
Normal activity may be resumed immediately following Restylane injections, however, there may be mild swelling and bruising at the injection site. Swelling should resolve within three to four days, and bruising may take up to one week to diminish. Concealer can help cover any temporary imperfections.
Studies have shown that average Restylane treatment results last six months when appropriate amounts of Restalyne is administered.
Restylane treatments typically last four to six months, so treatments are usually scheduled two to three times per year. Follow-on treatments are advised before the product has fully dissipated to help enhance a lasting effect.
Over time, Restylane molecules bind with water, resulting in the degradation of the product, which is then metabolized by the body.
